About

Built by people who’vebeen in the room.

AeroCert exists because the people who’ve sat through Stage Of Involvement reviews, hunted down the right rev of an SRS in PDM, and assembled a cert package at 2 AM the night before submission — they know exactly what’s broken about how it’s done today. We’re building the tool we wanted.

Founder

The story.

I’ve spent 20+ years as an aerospace structures engineer — aircraft, rockets, and spacecraft, on both commercial and human spaceflight programs. I’ve worked under FAA Part 25, NASA-STD-5001, NASA-STD-5019, and the alphabet soup of standards that govern flight hardware certification.

On every program, the same pattern: world-class engineering delivered through bargain-basement tooling. Requirements live in one tool, verification evidence lives in another, the master trace is a 2GB Excel file maintained by one heroic engineer, and every DER review starts with three days of artifact archaeology.

I started AeroCert because I wanted to stop archaeology and start engineering. The standards aren’t the bottleneck — they’re the agreed contract for safety. The tooling is the bottleneck. We can fix that.

Background

Programs we’ve shipped under.

The team brings hands-on experience across commercial aviation, commercial launch, and human spaceflight — including programs where the cost of getting certification wrong is measured in human lives.

What we believe

Four principles.

01

The standards are not the problem.

DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, NPR 8705.2C — these are the accumulated wisdom of decades of safety-critical engineering. They exist because aircraft used to fall out of the sky and spacecraft used to come apart. The tooling around the standards is the problem.

02

Built by engineers, for engineers.

Every product decision goes through people who have been the ones writing the PSAC, sitting in the SOI review, and pulling the all-nighter before the Stage 4 submission. We don’t outsource judgment about cert workflows.

03

Honesty over marketing.

If we don’t support a standard yet, we’ll tell you. If our SOC 2 isn’t complete, we publish where we are. If a feature is six months away, we say six months. The aerospace industry has a long memory for vendors who oversell.

04

AI is a tool, not a feature.

We use machine learning where it earns its place — parsing legacy SRS documents, suggesting requirement allocations, finding traceability gaps. We do not let it generate certification artifacts unsupervised, and we don’t put "AI-powered" on our homepage. Cert packages need provenance, not hallucinations.

Where we’re going

The next decade of aerospace deserves better cert tooling.

New entrants are flying eVTOLs through Part 23 and Part 25. Commercial space is moving from cargo to crew. NASA is returning to the lunar surface with a half-dozen partners. Every one of these programs runs into the same wall: certification tooling that hasn’t materially evolved since the late 1990s.

AeroCert is for the teams who refuse to let cert overhead become the limiting factor. We want a world where a 50-engineer startup can certify with the same rigor as a prime — because they have access to the same caliber of tools.

Working with us

Design partners & advisors.

We work with a small number of design-partner customers who shape the product. If you’re running a cert program in the next 12 months and want a seat at that table, we should talk.
